I got a call this morning from a contact in Houston who has a large pile of ceiling fans he is about to chuck in the dumpster.  This includes 40 or 50 post 1950 cast iron Hunters, and and 5-10 "antique valuable fans".  Also, several boxes of parts.  I have not seen pictures or any details other than the above.  The fans are going to be thrown out if no one goes any picks them up.  He is not willing to box, pack, or ship them, he just wants them gone.

I would hate to see any of this be tossed.  If anyone would like to go and pick them up, all I would ask would be that I get to pick a select few fans for myself (any post 1950s Adaptairs, etc).  The rest would be yours to keep, sell, anything but junk.

Please contact me for details.  mtneuman@mailbag.com 608.576.5227

Should I have posted this in the post-1950s forum too, or instead?

Ok folks, here's the scoop (I am bumping this post for Dan who originally posted them message above):

The man SW of Houston (Mike) is ending his ceiling fan repair business.  He has 50-60 ceiling fan motors, blades, arms, boxes of parts.  The fans are 1 antique ceiling fan, 4 or 5 post 1950 Hunter cast iron models, and a slew of 1970's to current fan motors.  All of this amounts to a small trailer load. Mike has already moved all of these items to a trailer and they are covered to keep them safe from the elements. All of this is free to pick up and all must go. I have personally talked to Mike and he just wants everything gone and would prefer not to send it to the dumpster.

I spoke to Dan (who posted the original message) about a week and a half ago and he is mainly interested in 70's and 80's ceiling fans. I was planning on picking up this load of motors and parts although I am unable to do so.  So, whomever can pick up the fans Dan would like dibs on some of them as he was the finder of the parts and the person who so kindly posted this on our site.

If anyone is able to pick up the parts please call Dan.  He will give you the info. to contact Mike who has all the ceiling fans and parts.

Thanks,

Nick

I have sold several fans to Dan.  He's a true fan collector.  Wish I had the time for a trip to Houston.

I still need someone to pick up these fans ASAP.

It is worth noting that, everyone who has contacted Mike has gotten a different account of what the fans consist of.  Some have been told only one antique fan, some have been told several.  Some have been told only a handful of cast iron hunters (and the majority is Casablanca-type fans), others have been told the bulk of this haul is cast iron fans.

In any case, I dont want to see any of it thrown away.  Please let me know if anyone can make the trip.

Thanks
