Had a few days off this past week and was able to assemble and finish off a Silver Swan. If you haven't had a chance to restore one of these you should. They can really try your patience. By the way, the decal is from Todd Mann.

Very Nice John, but how did you get the dents out of the back motor cover as they seem to always have these? Oh, and Merry Christmas.

Dale, I used a wooden ball about 3" in diameter attached to a rod. Placed the cover down on a smooth surface and pushed the dents out from the inside. I couldn't remove all evidence of them but that's life. After that, I wet sanded it with 600, 1000 and 1500 grit to remove any scratches and then polished it.

Nice looking restore.
Thanks for the helpful hints on getting the dents out the back cover as these almost always have dents from a tumble or two.

happy holidays,

Don C.

Very nice John, What is the model number of this fan? I just picked up an identical 12" Silver swan but cannot read my not so hot decal, and there is no motor tag. It will be my next restoration. If you have a link for Todd, I am going to need deacals. Thank you, Dale

Dale,

Here's a link for Silver Swan models I found using the forum Search function............
http://afcaforum.com/view_topic.php?id=39249&forum_id=1&highlight=silver+swan+models

As for Decals, I know someone was reproducing them but I'm not sure who it is.

Hope this helps.

John

Hi John, thank you, Mine is the 5460 12" 3 speed with no letter after the model number. I gather it my be an early model.
Can hardly wait to get started on this fan.

Hi John,
Would it be possible to send me a close up picture of the Silver Swan decal. I cannot find anyone who has them, and Todd Mann doesn't seem to be reachable. So, I will see if I can make them. I need to see the actual colors if possible.

Thank you,

Dale

Would that be a decal you are willing to part with for $? If not, thank you, that is what I was looking for. Dale

I'm afraid not. It's the only one I have and I have 3 fans that can use it. Sorry.

Well, maybe I can help you., I played with the image on my program and printed out a fairly nice image that I think will be usable. What is left on the decal on my Swan has significant gold in it. What I will do is send you one. I have a little more work to do on it. Send me your address and I will pop one or 2 in the mail for you to play with.
Dale
