I take it that the Fresh'nd Aires were called Fresh'nd Aires because they had the air fresheners built into them?  :wondering:

None of these fan makers went into their trade wanting to benefit mankind. :D  They saw jing to be made, fact Jack.  Devore(Fresh'nd-aire) recognized along with Gaylord(coin operated business) that folks on the gambling machines stayed longer pumping more coins into the machines and ordering more drinks with a fan to keep them cool.  Now,  you can imagine all those stinky cigarettes and cigars getting puffed on while pumping jing into the one eyed bandit. :D  Devore jumped on that problem as well with the fragrance heating cylinders. Now the cigar smoking gambler could stay cool and smell pine mixed with his stinky cigar smoke.

Devore got into legal hassle over the use of his "Air Conditioning" slogan in 39.  He signed a stipulation forbidding his use of the words "Air Conditioning" along with the Fresh'nd-aire fan.
][United States. Federal Trade Commission - 1940 - ‎Snippet view - ‎More editions
Robert E. Devore, in connection with the advertisement, sale, or distribution of his "Fresh'nd Aire" fans in commerce as defined by the act, agreed to cease and desist from the use of the term "Air Conditioning" or of any other word or words.
