I have a 1907 pancake (I hear it's called the ugly duckling) and have taken the motor out and it has the stacked plates the windings go over. They were bent and a little rusty. I have soaked in vinegar to remove most of the rust and getting ready to put back together but can only work on it when I don't have to make a living. I soaked the plates about a month ago and a little more rust has occurred (Louisiana humidity). My question is that do I coat them in something like insulation varnish? Or something to stop the rust. Thanks for any info.
