I recently acquired a Northwind 44A fan and was going through the wiring, all original, to make sure all the connections were good and to fix any exposed copper wire. When I removed the base cover I found that the porcelain speed control switch was cracked in half. Also the tiny copper switching winding was broken. Does anyone have a replacement one or know someone that might have one? Or can I try and epoxy glue the switch back together, redo the small copper wire winding so it will work again. Does anyone have a wiring schematic for this switch. Any input or help would be greatly appreciated.

That switch can easily be repaired... gorilla glue works well... pool putty works well too.. The wire is nichrome and is NOT copper so be careful with it...

Thanks for the info George. I was being very careful as I took the switch out but one of the corners broke off so I will be doing a little more gluing. Am I correct in my thinking that the nichrome wire is used as a resistance wire and that is what would reduce the fan motor speed to create the two different fan speeds? Do you happen to have some pictures of what both sides of a good switch looks like so I have a reference?
