I just recently came into a 16" GE Vortalex fan.  This is a 1940-41 year with a black blade.  I found four cracks on the blade hub.  I have a donor blade from a cream and brown vorty that is a good hub.  The blades on the cracked hub are in good shape.  My question is do you use aluminum rivets?  I'm trying to decide if this project is worth doing.  I have the correct rivet tool and dies.  I'm not wanting to do anything to might be dangerous down the road.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I have no experience in doing blades but you need to grind your rivets off the bad blade set and see what they are made of.  You should be able to tell easily.  Good luck!
