G'day Russ. It's an insulated support for the brush holder connection or switch slide (top and bottom)It has a copper ribbed section to told the brush holder in position and maintain power to the brushes as you adjust the speed.Sorry for the poor image but I hope it gives you the gist of it. Another shot.. The insulated black disk on the back side of the brush assembly has a brass clamp that supports the brush holders. The opposite side of the clamp makes contact ribbed conductive slide..allowing power to the brushes if that makes any sense ![]() Attached Image (viewed 174 times): Last edited on Tue Apr 17th, 2018 06:41 am by Jim Dunn |

So basically, the black "round peg" sticking up through the top of the motor's housing is just a locating tab to help keep the position of the insulating disk?

Thanks for the black thing of a ma jig report gentlemen. And we will all give Mr. Kearns an "E" for effort. ![]() So far I am aware 5 owners of this early model. It appears David Dimitrion has the title for the earliest serial for this 12-15 model? Anyone out there with and earlier serial? ![]() Attached Image (viewed 82 times): Last edited on Wed Apr 18th, 2018 02:12 pm by Russ Huber |

G'day David. The black pegs holds the curved wavy conductive plates that puts power to the brush holder. The Black insulated disk is on the back side and moves with the brush holders. I haven't taken mine apart...as you can see by its filthy original state![]()
