Despite some rainy weather, it's a nice start to Pig Pickin' at Geoff Dunaway's place in Harrison, Arkansas. Early arrivee Larry Hancock, left, helped Rick Swanson diagnose the trouble with an Emerson 71666 that Rick brought to Pig Pickin. Geoff is kind enough to open up his shop here in the main barn for folks to use during Pig Pickin and the Fall Workshop. There's also a second "patchwork" barn he allows people to use.

The evening was busy and guys jumped off to an early start. Bill Fanum, right, and Geoff Dunaway powered up a Fidelity that hadn't run in more than 20 years.

Paul Graves put some finishing touches on a lollipop that John Fengel brought. Paul is also kind enough to allow fan nuts to work in his shop during the fan meet.

Mike Mirin brought one of his latest aquisitions, a washing machine motor, tore it down and rebuilt it. More than a few mud dobbers made this motor their home. It now works.

Paul "tuned" the new Switch for my Lollipop to operate nicely on regular house voltage instead of the original 100 volts it was designed to run with.

Dan Wyatt brought his limited edition Freshy pedestal fan. Only Dan knows how many of these exist. The blade is ferocious; its nose, a separate machined piece, draws its inspiration from a WWII fighter.

Housing cacti, fans (and, well, fan meets), the patchwork barn itself is an impressive structure.

And, of course, inside you can find all of the action -- plenty of fan tables and folks like Will Guidry, who's admiring this 6-wing Emerson. Geoff Dunaway mans the phone in the background.

Back in the main barn, Paul Graves continued to offer expertise in his workshop from machining parts, repairing blades (like mine) to soldering cages like this one from a large Emerson belonging to John Schrader.

With Tom's assistance, "Wormy" (yes ... that's the nickname he goes by) adeptly repaired an Emerson.

He was happy with the result, a fully functional Emerson, which I think is a 19646.

Nearby, Wichita Superstar Larry Mong set out to paint his GE Pancake a very Burgundy color and began by prepping the housing.

Pete Hahn stopped by to admire one of Larry's other fans, a model that I do not recognize. But it was a great deal -- Larry's son saw it in an (antique store?) for $3 and Larry instantly leaped at the chance to purchase it.

Back in Geoff's workshop there was plenty to do and plenty to see. Larry Hancock, a busy man for the entire length of Pig Pickin, proudly shows this Emerson he brought.

This Emerson had an interesting tag ... an acronym for a Missouri Bell phone company, I think, but I cannot remember the entire name.

Want to paint a fan? Many did and the paint booth in Geoff's shop remained busy with candidates like this Emerson who were vying for some "new skin" during Pig Pickin.

Back on the other side of Geoff's workshop, Stan Adams, left, introduced an R&M motor who's wiring was tricky. He called on Bill Fanum to find the proper hookups. Will Guidry, right, offered as much assistance as he could.

Stan's motor had multiple leads -- as many as 5 -- if I remember correctly.
