Hello friends. Like many of you (judging from the number of posts about this topic), I struggled with removing pressed fit Westy stators. I read all the posts and looked at the different methods to see what I might try. The most elegant method seemed to be the gear pulley system but that required spending about $50 to $60 for the tool and the metal disk. I came up with something similar which only cost me about $15 in total.

What you see above is a piece of angle iron stock (available just about anywhere), a 3/4 threaded rod and nut, a steel washer and a couple of 12-2 sheet metal screws. I would suggest that you put a piece of flat metal in the back of the case to protect the rear bearing from any scuffing. So here's the idea. The right end of the piece above goes in the case (having pushed the centrifugal start collar aside after removing the screws and the spacers behind it). Then carefully screw the sheet metal screws into two opposing holes (of the four in the stator) the same amount so that the tension is equal. The four holes in the stator are not threaded and the sheet metal screws do a good job of grabbing the insides of the holes. Make sure that you insert the sheet metal screws at least an inch into the stator. Hex heads may be better rather than the philips head screws shown above. Then slowly turn the nut with an open ended box wrench. It wouldn't be a bad idea to spray some liquid wrench along the edge of the case between the case and the stator to assist in the movement as the stator starts to come out. Make sure that you have removed the screws that hold the oscillating arm housing to the bottom of the case. These protrude just enough into the case as to prevent the stator from easily sliding out (I learned that the hard way). I also cooled the case and stator in my freezer before proceeding and that might have helped (an AFCA member suggestion).

Anyway, this was an inexpensive variation of the gear pulley method. Hope you find it helpful.

Can you show photos of tool installed in housing attched to stator? Would love to see how it actually works, seems like it could be a great idea! I had a heck of a time getting my stator out of my one one only stamped steel Westy. If that tool really worked on a really stuck stator it would make me buy others as the early ones are nice looking fans.

Honestly, even with this tool, dealing with Westy stamped steel fans are no pleasure at all. I've already put that Westy I was working on back together. I have to work on another one at some point so I'll send you a PM.
