Fan Fair 2019 is just a couple of short months away, so get your registration forms sent in and make your hotel reservations. The Marriott is a great venue for this years activities.
The BFOTY entries are undergoing their restorations. This year's model is the GE BMY. You still have time to enter and show off your skills. Judging will be done by FF attendees. Winner receives a Plaque and the fans will be auctioned off during the Banquet, with the restorer of the fan that earns the most money receiving an award. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the AFCA.
Greg Mauer is sponsoring a new contest this year. It involves creating a fan from something else, such as a lamp. It's called Best Mash up Fan Of The Year. I assume judging will be done the same as for the BFOTY.
Four Seminars will be conducted for FF attendees. Rick Powell will be doing a presentation about Jappaning. Ed Frank will be conducting a seminar on the disassembly and reassembly of the GE one speed coin op fan. Rick Huckabee will be discussing how an electric motor works, and Bill Fanum will be talking about what's next after you bring home that garage sale fan. Thanks guys for doing this for the Collectors.
Both Museums have a new look. This was a three month project but we have made it so that more fans are on display. We have also opened up enough display area in the downstairs Antique Fan Museum to show an additional 210-350 fans, along with another 40 spots for ceiling fans. I'll be putting out a post for loans of Emersons, Westinghouse, R&M's, and other Makers later.
The Museum will be soon be receiving a new display of the complete lineup of Emerson Northwind 450 10 inch fans....(Be still my beating heart) and another collector has on loan the incredible Morgan Deflector, only the second one known. Also on display will be another very rare find. You'll need to come to the Museum to see what it might be.
Fanimation will be hosting a cookout at the Museum on Friday night. The Museum and Shop will be open all four days of Fan Fair, for attendees to visit at their leisure.
The Museum T-shirts are now in and will be available for purchase at both the Bourse and the Museum. Sizes are Small thru XXXL. Cost is $20.00 per shirt for sizes S-XL, and $21.00 for XXL-XXXL. They feature the Museum logo on the front and a very rare fan on the back.
Fan Fair T-shirts are available by special ordering from the registration form only. They will be ready for you at the registration desk. There will be no extras available for purchase, so place your order now.
A very special Fanimation belt drive fan system will be given away during Fan Fair. Registered attendees will receive a ticket for a chance on the Brew Master ceiling fan system and the winner will be drawn during the Banquet. Definitely worth the price of admission.
Tom and I will be meeting with the hotel in the next couple weeks to make sure everything is in place for Fan Fair 2019 and to make sure we're all on the same page. The Bourse will open at 8:00am on Wednesday, July 17th, for attendees to start setting up, so make sure to order your tables to display your stuff.
That's about it for now. I will post updates as they happen. Looking forward to seeing everyone in July.

Sounds like fun Kim. Glad I'm a "member."

I'll do a map of the courses down there so I don't have too much of it though, the ticker can't take it anymore...

As Kim indicated above there is a new competition in town. Don't miss out on the fun. Details on the BFMOTY event can be found here:

Anyone who won’t be able to attend in person can still win the raffle fan!!! Keep those ticket orders coming. All the information is at the top of this forum. Kim, I’ll  be available to help with tables or anything else at whatever time Wednesday you need. Somehow I’ll struggle and make the twenty minute drive. 😬 I can’t wait to see all my fan friends and make new ones. 👍

Count me in on the BFMOTY competition. If I win the $5000 award,  I will donate it to the fan museum.

We don't take donations anymore from you Nick. Monopoly money didn't go over very well when we tried to deposit it. I have you down for a BFMOTY entry, and not a BFOTY entry. Of course, the prize money for that contest is paid in Rupees...

Update: The distance from the hotel to Fanimation is exactly 20 miles, all interstate travel. The Menu for the Friday night cookout at Fanimation is set. There will be brats, dogs, burgers, chicken, and pulled pork. The sides are baked beans, potato salad, mac and cheese, and one other thing that I can't remember. Drinks are water, tea, and lemonade and desserts are strawberry shortcake and cookies.

Great update. I was hoping to make my first event but cannot on that weekend. So, my 13 year old son fan collector (and AFCA member) will be going with his mom Friday and Saturday. He’s even getting a bourse to show off his small collection. They aren’t the most expensive fans, rarest, or restored in the fancy manner so many of you are capable of, but he is proud of his beginner collection. I would consider it a personal favor if you all could stop by Kieran’s table and give him encouragement. I told him today that I was sending him and he is over the moon. Fans are his passion and he wants to learn from all of you! :-)

I look forward to meeting your son. He will feel welcomed as soon as he walks in. This group is amazing when it comes to that. 👍
