I picked up one of the cleanest, low mileage 10 inch Vader's I have ever found this friday. I get it home, turn it on and.... of course it has that loud buzzing sound like an angry hornet nest. So I pulled the rotor and removed the gearbox to gain access to the rear of the motor where the noise was coming from. I could see the wires were not very well wrapped and many just bare and exposed. Soooooo.. a short trip to harbor freight and $8 later I had a cure.
I put a sock in the motor to keep as much of the goo off the inside part as possible and just sprayed all of the wiring on the backside liberally.
After reassembling it and holding my breath, the buzzing sound was gone.

Nice fix Charles.
This begs the question though...
When you put on that sock, do your toes start buzzing?
