To try and make a long story short... I sold a fan on Ebay. A rather expensive fan at that. I shipped the blade and cage in the same box as the stump, but not attached. The blade and cage were packed at the top of the box, and the stump underneath, divided by a cardboard setup. I have shipped many fans like this without issue. According to tracking info, it was delivered Monday, Dec. 23. Today I get a message asking "when will the blade and cage box be arriving"? I explain that everything was in the same box and to check the "bottom" of the box, perhaps it was opened upside down. Apparently buyer checked the box and the blade and cage are not in there.... I asked for pictures of the box, and it doesn't look disturbed. Im at a loss because I did indeed send the box out with all parts included, the buyer has good feedback, but I don't want to lose money because I am not at fault. Did somebody really carefully cut open the box, and steal the cage and blades, only to retape it and leave the rest? Or is the buyer trying to screw me? I really don't know, and am unsure how to prove anything. Any guidance or feedback would be appreciated.

It sounds like the buyer is trying for a refund and also trying to keep your blades and cage. I would let eBay know what’s going on quickly before they file a claim. Definitely sounds like a “not as described” scam.

I have contacted Ebay. I will post any updates I receive. Thank you, Sean.

For future packing I would take a picture what you wrapped
And put into the box so incase someone is trying to scam you
On money I would write . what it contains inside then retake
The picture so what it side of the box you have a proof of what you
Sent plus it’s documented

I had that happen to me once...but I was the receiver. Motor was sent without cage and blade. Also...I have had packages open when delivered overseas. While I do like buying from eBay...I would hate selling on eBay due to their policy. I would rather buy from here or better yet at a Fan meet. Unfortunately....my time and location does not permit me to attend these marvelous fan meets I keep seeing in our beautiful magazine.

I know we talked about this last night, but it now sounds like he's pulling one over on you. Unfortunately it'll probably come down to eBay getting involved and siding with the buyer. Trust me, we've had our share of issues with selling on eBay; it's tragic but you almost accept it as part of the game.

Good luck, I have had zero luck getting Ebay to intervene - - bad for business.

Sounds like a case of buyers remorse and they're trying to get money back. Whatever's decided do the club a favor and let us know the outcome and the buyer ID.

I only have one question. Did you agree to ship it in 2 boxes? If you agreed to do so and it is documented in emails through Ebay then there is nothing you can do. If not you can at least be able to prove to ebay you never agreed to ship it in 2 separate boxes and he receive his fan. You might be able to get out of it but I doubt it. Ebays policy's suck for sellers.

I never agreed to nor was I asked to ship it in 2 boxes. I filed a claim with ebay before the buyer could and now I have not heard back from the buyer since. Maybe I scared them off?

Luke you might post the buyers EBay name, there’s a couple of buyers that have a reputation for doing these types of things, also what town are they in?  Sadly EBay always sides with the buyer.
Rick
