This is a very uncommon, early c.1918 Japanese pre-WWII cast iron, brass blade (painted black as original) Nippon-made KDK fan. Its a 110v fan. and unusual for a few reasons- first of all, very few of these survived WWII scrap drives as most heavy iron like this was melted down for the Japanese war effort. This is an all cast iron fan with only the oscillator lid and neck being die cast. The tag is in English, and has the early Nippon markings.

This was one of the first fans to use a safety cage (yes, it's original to the fan) , it also closely resembles the Westinghouse fan design. There was some sort of manufacturing agreement between Nippon and Westinghouse, though all parts are metric and not interchangeable with the Westinghouse. It is a 4 speed fan, not the usual 3.

Here's what was done during the restoration. Fan was totally disassembled, everything cleaned and relubed. New headwire and cord, switch cleaned and coil varnished, all electrical connections tightened and everything ohmed out. Much of the paint is original, though the cage and blade needed to be repainted. Paint on the base was touched up here and there as there was some wear and scuffs. All other paint was cleaned and waxed. All brass is polished.  New feet on bottom. New grommets and oil cup wick. There is some wear on one oscillator gear but it does oscillate fine. The blade has some very minor distortion by the spiders, but it tracks fine and with the painted blade, you don't notice it.

It runs smoothly,  and very quiet on low setting. Running amps are nice and low and the motor barely gets warm. This is a really nice, interesting fan, and there are very few out there.

Price reduced to $175.  PayPal F&F plus actual shipping via FedEx. Or pickup in May at Tom's Northeast meet if prepaid.

Please PM me if interested.

Thanks for looking!
