Good Morning-
Just picked up a 1900 Stick Mount Cake at Fan Fair and I am in need of a new bearing and shaft (see pic).

If you have or know someone that has these parts for sale please let me know.

Thanks,
Dan

Darryl is an excellent machinist. So is Lucas Beshara (from Texas).

That shaft really doesn't need to be replaced. The wear is where the wick hits. Either side is supported by the bearing. How does the fan run? Does the shaft have up and down movement in the bearing? If the fan doesn't run well and the bearing has slop, then replace the bearing. I'd save my money by not replacing that shaft. FWIW, my opinion is based upon having owned over two hundred Pancakes, all with varying degrees of wear from the wick.

Kim- this is the same Burgundy cake i picked up from Eddie at Fan Fair. We ran it and you recommended replacing the bearing. I sent the shaft and bearing over to Daryl yesterday. I will share your comment and see if we could save the shaft. Thanks

Looks like it was run with no oil. The wick got hard and wore the shaft. All my pancakes,no where near Kims collection have wick wear. Does the shaft have a lot of play. They all have some.
