Hello,
First post here, go easy on me :D.

I have a GE Whiz fan that runs but gets hot after about a minute so I'm guessing the wingdings are in need of replacing.

Anybody here capable of rewinding? Or help point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Tim

How hot? My Whiz puts off some heat, but it's not worrisome to me. These small shaded pole motors often run hotter than more efficient fan motors.
Cheers,
Bill

It will start smoking, I guess I should have mentioned that also.

Try posting this question in the pre 1950 forum instead of the buy/sell section. I think you'll get more views and maybe some suggestions.
If the windings are shot, you will see some very low ohms reading across the leads. (and soon to go open apparently)

This is providing that the fan itself is properly serviced and is not fighting against too much friction.
Cheers,
Bill
