I saw this fan for sale.  How much would you pay for it?  I was sent a video of it running on all 3 speeds.  It seems to oscillate slowly, not sure why.  Couldn’t tell in the video if it vibrates, but heard a little “noise” when it went from high to medium.  Looks like original cord, but needs replaced.  I would have to drive a couple of hours to get it, but I sometimes travel that way anyway to visit friends so wouldn’t be terribly out of the way.  Being offered for $100.

I'd offer half that, maybe he'll settle at $75, which would be top dollar in my opinion.

Yeah, I’d prefer to get it for $50.  Is there anything to watch out for or look for when buying this fan?

Overpriced plus the brass blade is not correct; it would have had a painted aluminum blade.   That is a GE 'cheapie' model with just two speeds I think unless the 16" had three.  You'd be better off with an all cast iron model from 1924 (Form AD) or before.
Also, if you want the fan to use most people are better off with a 12" model unless they like lots of wind and more noise.

I believe that I would buy one of the fans that Lane Sherry has advertised at $300.00. That is a great price and you get a ready to go fan.

I would not buy this fan-lots of stamped steel and wrong blade. This model was not GE's best product.

I have to agree with Carlton, Lane has 4 fans available for $300 or less, all great runners, I have bought many fans from him.

Appreciate all the feedback! Being new to all of this, I get a little over-excited. I need to learn a little patience before jumping in. I’ve been looking around and found a couple of other fans which are much cheaper, not in terrible shape, and would allow me to practice restoring them without much loss if I screw something up.

I found a couple of 16” Emerson 77648. One is the 77648-AS for $75 and price is firm. It runs, a family hand me down. Another is a 77648-AO for $30 and it runs but it is a bit out of my way to get it.

Part of my thinking is get a good fan and practice working on it and learning. My intention is not to resale, although I wouldn’t mind doing that. I think this is a cool hobby and it feels like saving a nice piece of history bringing these fans back to life. I think I’m hooked. I just need to education and knowledge.

Appreciate all of the kind thoughts, opinions and knowledge all of you on the forum have given.
