Fan Has Been Sold            Pictured is an unrestored GE fan. It is in running condition. I believe it is a two speed fan. The only damage on the fan is at the brass nut at the back top right. See the photograph of this section. It will be double boxed with the motor in one box with a hose clamp on the shaft. Cage and blades in another box and then combined with the motor in a larger box measuring 23"x19"x17" weighing 32 pounds. OK, I know parts were carried over & repairs made over the years - - I kind of like the open ring version -I had 2 1900 models & they had both versions, This is Kim Frank level stuff!

The cage is identical except for the addition of the GE cap. But, very early cages had a machined center ring, not the pressed one seen on most early guards. 1900 guards were the same, with GE cap, but the rear ring was considerably heavier gauge than used on 1899 models.

Patina adds character to a fan rather than the shine. I am not saying its ruining the fan but it's a shame to see patina that over 100 years old get polished away. Makes the fan one of a kind since it took 100 years to get that patina. Last edited on Wed Jan 20th, 2021 02:56 am by Zachary Parr |

Let's give them a chance to read about those who do prefer unrestored fans and let them know that restoring a fan is not necessarily the best action.

I definitely think patina on a nice original fan looks classy. That said the key word is NICE original. It really irks me when people are criticized for restoring a fan that looks like it was on the bottom of a lake for 100 years. In my opinion, there comes a point when it’s not patina, it’s damage. That said, I do enjoy nice original fans AND restored fans and own both. Neither is right or wrong and I just think it should be left up to personal preference and the state of the individual fans.
