you know the date of the top one Chris? I have that desk fan in the corner, I date it to the late 50's or early 60's I guess, have one with a similar base and different badge with plastic blades as well.

Ken, my pleasure. I love the feeling of these ads. It would be fun to take a time machine and travel back to some of these time periods to see all of these cool machines operating in their original environments. John, it's the June 3, 1957 issue of Life magazine.

Hi Chris,

I love the ads too. O.A.Sutton did joint magazine media ads with a few companies. One ad I have is a Vornado window a/c and Arrow Shirts! Go figure. They're cool.

From a photographer's standpoint, I love the elaborate set they built for this ad.

I have that Coldspot air conditioner in the first picture! Still works even though it has some rust and a few broken fins on the front grill. It's currently in storage but I occasionally rotate it into service, alternating between it and my 60's GE.

chris, awesome. the "Fantasy Fans" ads for Emerson are 1955 Life Magazine, or at least 1955. I have the tunrabout utility fan and three of the rollabout models. "Falcon Brown & Beige" is the color scheme on that year. The Emerson window fan with the pedestal that looks like an upside down golf tee is pre WW2, and i have been looking for that one since i saw it in a Life Magazine from 1940-41 when I was in high school. thanks for sharing! you guys should check out the "Scrapbook" of fans available in the back of the monthly magazine

Tom, you're welcome. I love finding these old ads! I'll have to check for the scrapbook that you mentioned.

Michael, if you have the spare time, would you mind e-mailing me this Rex ad? I'd love to look at it more magnified. Looks awesome.

Thanks!
