I just purchased my first vintage fan from an antique store. The base has been painted black and the cord has been cut off. I’d like to refurbish it as close to the original condition/color as possible and also get it to work. I’ve never done this type of thing before so any advice would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum. Nearly everything you want to know about restoring a fan can be found in old posts here on the forum. It’s all been covered before. Use the search feature to find what you need.

If you stumble on something that’s not listed, post your question with good pictures to describe your situation. Most members won’t reply to very basic questions that have been covered many times in the past and can easily be found with the search function.

Most fans are similar enough that general restoration information can be used even if it doesn’t pertain to your exact fan.

Good luck!
