I just purchase a model 52 and not sure if its even supposed to oscillate,  there is a knob below the motor but not sure how it works

Pictures help us to understand which fan you have. 


It likely engages the oscillator mechanism if you tighten it and probably allows you to adjust the oscillating arc.

Thanks for the reply. I will take some pictures but have to learn how to load them to the sight.

It appears that the gearbox works that runs a shaft coming out of the bottom of the rear case. After searching the web I found another Manning Bowman 52. I seem to be missing a curved metal arch piece and whatever connects it to the shaft. If anyone know someone who may have these parts or could give me some Idea how they connect. If all fails I can make the part. This Fan was made in Fostoria Ohio.

Any help would be appreciated
