hi, there are two fans for sale on craigslist(will post link) for 100$ they say one works and other does not. i am pretty sure i could most likely fix it. i have looked at this ad for a while. when were these made, and are they worth what the are asking? if not what should i offer if anything? if i could just make an offer for one what should that be as well?

To me, about $30 each. I'd imagine they both work, just might need a new switch or capacitor. They were from the 70's, the last of the "good fans." Hunter marketed these as a retro fan back then.

I agree with Andrew. When I was a kid in the 1970's, my church did some "remodeling" of the Sunday School area and purchased very similar fans for many of the classrooms. The only difference is the ones we purchased did not have S-wire cage over top of the safety cage.

They replaced 1940's Westinghouse Power-Airs. Since both the Westinghouse and Hunter fans were wall-mounted, I have NO IDEA why they bothered to replace all the Westinghouse fans as they all worked fine.

As Andrew said, the Hunter fans are "good" but the main thing I remember is the fans our church has were loud with air noise. The way the blades moved the air was MUCH louder than the Westinghouse fans had been and it was not a particularly pleasant air sound.

I'd offer $60 for the pair and see what happens. If they make a counter offer, you just have to decide what you are willing to pay.
