So this has a fan in it, I think it still counts.  A weatherzone 55 evaporative cooler.  Basically a fan in a box with a tray for water.  Air is drawn from over the water.
Surprisingly clean, no rust!  Not what I expected at all.   Took it apart, cleaned it up, few drops of oiln  on the motor shafts, and soaked the felts, it turned very smooth before I touched it.  New cord I had laying around and it's done.  Just gotta clean the case a bit more

A few questions, any idea the year for this?

Is the tray ment to be filled with water and frozen?

It would make the most sense to me but I don't wanna break the tray.

And lastly, thoughts on cleaning it? It's an off-white crinkle paint, in good shape, just dirty.  Not sure what to use to keep from damaging the paint.

I had one of those which was grey. You filled the tray with ice cubes & it would blow cold air until the cubes melted.

That's pretty neat! I would use a soft scrub brush with some dawn detergent.

Yeah I'm pretty happy with it. Perfect desk cooler. With I would just fill the grey with water and freeze the whole thing, but I'm afraid it would not survive. So ice cubes it is. Gonna try a liquid freezer pack too

That cooler cost over $300 if you adjust for inflation. Things like this help put into perspective just how cheap stuff is made these days.
