Hi everyone! I'm new here and new to vintage fans. My sister was cleaning out her garage and was finally getting rid of a couple of non-working vintage fans that she had hanging around for 20 years or so. I have more time on my hands (thanks covid!) so thought I'd give it a go....and I'm hooked!  I don't know anything about much of this but don't worry - I'm gonna do as much research as I can on my own before I bombard you all with my dumb questions!
Just wanted to introduce myself and say Thank You for being there as a resource.

There are no dumb questions, we all learn when people ask... many of the good members share skills, knowledge, spec sheets and more for no cost and even parts as gifts to someone who really needs them
good luck and keep us in the loop

Hi Gina, welcome to the forum. Old posts on this forum are a wealth of knowledge and taught me everything about fan restoration. They can be accessed by using the search function and keywords that describe what you’re trying to learn.
Be careful, these old fans are addictive!  I started with one and the latest count exceeds 400 in my collection. Lol.

Thank you! I think I might already be addicted. I think I've watched EVERY YouTube video even remotely related!!! Been reading these postings too - so much to learn...
Just by dumb luck seems my first patient is one of the simplest so we'll see.

Welcome to our little corner of insanity! Actually, what hobby can be fun, involve great people and feature a collectible item you can actually use! I find I'm a popular guy among friends (or at work or church) when the AC breaks down. Feel free to post photos of your fans and projects.

Thank you for the warm welcome!
Turns out I'm diving into the deep end with a rewind for my first restore. Thankfully it's a very simple (:wondering:) 2-coil setup.

Still doing research and gathering supplies. I'll keep you posted...
