|Hello all, new to antique fans and first post. I looked for a while for a fan as my first restoration. Found one this past weekend. It is a GE vortalex fm12v43 and it does run. Tried to upload pics, but screen never quit saying uploading please wait. However the tag also says N.P. 133780-S no. 4. Guessing its from the early 50's? The one tack weld joint on the cage is broke, I noticed there is a blade wobble when it runs, and it has the old wiring. From what I read on maintenance, the front oil cap gets 3 in 1 oil and you pack the rear oscillation housing with lucas red n tacky grease.
So, before I get started down a wrong path and take something apart unnecessarily, any advise on what to do to completly go thru the fan and get it up to top shape?
What all do I take apart and clean?
Would like to replace the wire with a grounded plug, where do I bond the geound and ant recommended cord?
How do I replace the cloth wire? I assume it goes directly into the fan motor field windings?
How do I solve the wobble? Assiming the blade needs balanced.
How to fix the cage weld joint? Solder it, braze it, dab of jb weld, or something else?
