The Riviera is quieter, at least from my experience, but I will say that the air flow from a Vornado is exceptionally hard to beat.

When I put my Vornado 60P 16" up against my Westinghouse Mobilaire (Same as the Riviera minus the grille), the Vornado was noticeably louder, but the air flow was also significantly more.

THE 10 AND 16 RIVIERAS ARE QUIETER, THE 17" RIVIERA IS A TOSS UP THE 8" RIVIERA IS SIMILAR TO A 6" VORNADO JUNIOR I THINK
