I picked this up at a flea market. Very inexpensive. Runs good so should rebuild easy. Any history on the company and this fan appreicated. Also I need the turn knob on top any ideas where to source one? Attached Image (viewed 109 times):

THEY WERE AROUND FROM THE EARLY 50'S UNTIL LATE WITH A VARIETY OF DESIGNS MOSTLY FOR WINDOWS LIKE YOURS. SOME HAD ATTACHED PANELS, OTHERS HAD REMOVEABLE ONES. THEY ARE GOOD FANS BUT ONE WEAKNESS IS THE NARROWNESS OF THE "BOX" WHICH MAKES THEM PRONE TO TIPPING OVER ON CARPETED FLOORS. A GOOD RE DO AND REGULAR OILING AND IT SHOULD LAST A LONG TIME

Thanks. Two questions, where can I find a replacment knob and is that how they came from the factory with the grills attacked? Twisted wire? Does not look right to me. If not how were they attached? thanks

The grills had little "prongs" that were used to attach the grill to the fan. The prongs must have broken off over time and someone used the twist-wire to hold them onto the fan.
