I need to get a decal for this fan. Its a 16 inch. 2030C. Also I removed the set screw for the trumpet oscillator bell and it will not come off and I don't want to break it. I think its pot metal. I can not get the fan blade off either. Not sure if its screwed on or something I am missing. I removed the set screw and used a gear puller and can not get it off. Any help or ideas appreciated. Hit it with some penetrating oil and try to unscrew it. Maybe it's reverse thread?

I got it apart. Question, the bushing was tight to the shaft. The only reason it was turning was that the bushing was spinning in the frame. I don't think this is right. I can sand it and polish it up but want to know if lack of oiling can cause this over time. I thought I was going to bust it taking it apart.

If the bushing is still snug to both the id (I assume the shaft) and od (the frame) I wouldn't worry about sanding, just cleaning it up, unless the surface is scored. If it's kind of a textured bronze colour it's probably an oilite bushing. Very occasionally they need to be replenished with a little light machine oil - that's how they work. The brass bearing was stuck fast to the shaft. It took a hammer and a driver to get it out. I wire brushed it and polished the shaft and it seems to go in fine now.

I did not know that this Dominion was aluminum base. I used 120 working down to 800 then polished it to get out most of the casting pits and marks. Painted the inset the color the rest of the fan will be.  Attached Image (viewed 125 times): Last edited on Fri Mar 12th, 2021 11:47 pm by Ed Teach |

Thanks. I have the fan blade polished and ready to go and the head housing is all assembled but the stater is bad. when I put an ohms meter to the frame of the stater and hit the other end to the wires for the winding's I get a reading, and when I plug it in it uses 5 to 7 amps and heats up fast and hot. So I am at a stand still till I can source a stater for the 2030. I have my eye on eBay and tried the antique fan parts and they don't have one. I think the stater was not the one for this fan as the holes do not line up with the housing. The bolts were bent to get them in. I used smaller threaded rods to get it together and it still was not a fit. But it went together and was moving free and ran but there seems to be a short in the winding.
