Wanted to share my two Arvins with the group.  The box fan I got at a Salvation Army thrift store in 1994. I cleaned and oiled the motor and replaced the badly worn cord.  I have literally been using it every night ever since.  It is smooth and creates a great white noise. Every 6 mos or so I wipe it down and oil the motor.  This fan weighs about 30 pounds and is built like a tank.  The small heater I picked up recently.  Cleaned that one up and it works great. It even has the original cord!

I think the heater is from the mid 40s and the fan from mid 50s?

 I THINK I HAVE SEEN THAT HEATER IN ADS FROM 1949-51 ISH ..I HAD A SISTER ARVIN, THE  "COOL R HOT" FAN HEATER COMBO WITH TILT HEAD.
THE FAN I AM NOT SURE, IT LOOKS LIKE MID TO LATE 50'S IN STYLE

 Here is an Arvin heater that I own. Looks like it has never been used.

 Hi Brian

Is the box fan a 16-inch or a 20-inch? I am familiar with another style of Arvin box fan that I believe is newer than yours. It's possible yours is as old as mid-1950's. The Arvin box fan I'm familiar with is unique because it's designed in such a way that the top is narrower than the bottom and therefore the sides are slightly tapered.
