Fix it up and enjoy it! I'm certain you'll be impressed with the performance. These fans are very simple and well built. Those Fasco motors are very stout and powerful. She likely just needs a good cleaning and some oil.

I believe the fan is marketed as a "Niteaire" by LAU. It's an 18" blade with a motor that spins about 1550 RPM, comparable to a modern high velocity fan. These were designed to act as a whole house window fan, which is why the "front" grille is exposed. That would be the side that faces out the window.

I have this exact model, a 3 speed. Get yours running well and you'll soon find out that this thing is far better than anything you could buy in a store today. Definitely worth saving, not scrapping.
