Hello everyone. I'm new to the antique fan scene. I've always wanted one and I came across a R&M 1604 that I got for $45. I thought it was pretty reasonable, but running condition was unknown. Got it home and tried it out. Motor was buzzing, but wouldn't run, even when hand started. Opened the base, found the capacitor was leaking. Rigged in some non-polar caps I had in my components bin and got it to run with a gentle nudge. It appears to be complete. Already got a new twisted fabric power cord. New cap is ordered. I'm going to do a full teardown and cleaning of the mechanicals. I think I'm just going to wash it and get off the paint someone spilled on it, leaving as much of the age as I can.
Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the fan, or a wiring diagram? I searched the forum, but didn't come up with much for a 1604. What would be a period correct 3 conductor wire to go from the base to the head? I'd like to replace it as the insulation is very brittle. I suppose I could just wrap it in gaffer tape, but I'd like to do it right if the stuff is available.

I'll post pics after I get off work.

Thanks in advance for any help.
