Clear insulating varnish does the same thing as red or green or whatever other color they come in. It's purpose is to insulate the windings.

Rob, he's FOS. That fan in the second pic was on ebay recently and isnt even the same fan as his other pic. I would ignore him. I actually sold mine and shipped most of it out today.

Thats not your fan :lame. That used to belong to a collector out in Hawaii and it was a 24" counter top model that he converted into a pedestal fan using parts from a dayton. I smell a phoney here.
Here's a relevant video clip.

Here's a real 35 for ya.   Not a good picture but it's at least in my possession!  Was bought by my grandfather for a sporting goods store and then used to dry canvas tents out at a tent company till a few years ago.

They're incredible fans to see.  Photos don't really do them justice.  I bought one about a month ago at an auction (and since I'm keeping it, I'll admit that I paid $150 for it).  The previous owner had painted it orange and blue.  I would like to get it back to original condition one of these days.  I'll have more in rechroming than I have in the fan.  Enjoy yours! http://www.afcaforum.com/forum5/24313.html
