I have 2 bmy fans with the 3 headwire, does any one have a range of ohm readings for the stator & speed coil? i'm going to try & make one good fan from the 2. thanksfan 1 has readings of 41,40 & 3.3 ohms on the headwire. thanks Lawrence

Lawrence, there are several types of BMY construction types in the 3wire headwire flavor. They either have a resistance coil built into the stator ( uneven, but additive ohm headwire readings) and no halo resistance coil around the speed coil. OR,  the resistor is in the form of a halo (donut) coil around the speed coil ( you'll know if you have one). In this case the ohms between each of the 3 headwire pair combinations are the same.
Stators and speed coil/switches cannot be mixed between the 2 types. Make sure you have both of the same type.

The ohm readings you listed seem a bit odd. I think on mine with all 3 the same, I think they were around 41-43 ohms.

On the ones without the halo coil, the total of 2 of the ohm readings should roughly the third. Your's does not seem to. That puzzles me a bit.

Maybe someone with more experience will chime in.

I would suggest that you recheck you resistance readings.
You shouldn't be able to get a reading of 3.3 ohms through the stator.....unless you have a short somewhere.
The 40 ohm readings are good. The third reading should be 40 or greater.

I plan on cleaning up the wiring & rechecking the readings, the head wire is in sad shape. I'll also pull out the speed coil & look at it's configuration. thanks
