I've decided to offer this nice 12" Step Base 19666. This was repainted a long while ago as the white paint is beginning to crack and actually it looks kinda cool. I've flaked a little of the paint off and underneath, the Japan seems good. Blade is nearly perfect with no creases and only minor distortion by the spider on one or 2 wings, but overall very nice with original patina. Cast iron is good- no cracks. Oil port lid is there. Badge is good, wing bolts are original cage is straight, this is a nice unmolested fan. This fan is still available I'm putting it out there for $450 but just for a few days before I begin restoration and decide to keep it. Last chance if you're interested. PayPal payment plus shipping. Please note that this is a very heavy fan and shipping will be higher than normal because of it. Blade and cage will be removed for shipping. Please PM me if interested. Thanks for looking! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited on Mon May 29th, 2017 11:31 am by Lane Shirey |

I am not sure but shouldn't this fan have a cast hub blade with a brass cage? I know they made some different so I could be wrong. Just asking for my own knowledge. thanks

Just asking for my own knowledge. thanks Per Steve, which I've always gone by: The 19xxx types spanned TWO [highlight= #88ffff]series of oscillators, the 21 and 24xxx. Steel cages came on the 19 and 24 for 1918. The 19645 9" fan seems to have retained the cast hub till the end with steel cage but the 19646 had a stamped hub in 1918. I don't know about the 16" model. 19644 (1914-15 or 16), 19645 (1916-19), 19646 (1914-18), 19648 (1914-18), 19666 (1914-17) Swivel & Trunnion. Steel cages in 1918. Change from cast hub to stamped hub blade during production. 21645 ((1915-16), 21646 (1914-16), 21648 (1914-16), 21666 (1914-16) Oscillator with new, third type of gearbox, last to use the step base. Still cast hub blades. 24645 (1917-19), 24646 (1917-18), 24648 (1917-19), 24666 (1917-18), 24668 (1917-18) Oscillator, new cone shaped base (except for 24645 which used step base with thicker bottom flange), steel cages c.1918. Change from cast hub to stamped hub blade during production.

I think your fan is correct with the stamped hub and steel cage; my 19646 has that arrangement. The 19xxx types ran starting with the 21xxx and through the end of the 24xxx Types and they came with steel cages and stamped hubs in addition to brass cages and cast hubs in their earlier years. Of course it's possible that on one or two models at the end of the 19xxx and 24xxx that some cast hubs were used but I don't think a brass cage would have been used. Final Price $450. I'll be listing this for a few more days before I begin the restoration. After that point it'll no longer be for sale. For those who reached out looking for a price reduction, here you go. Thanks to everyone who showed interest!
