Okay, I know I'm going to get chastised for this one, but I wanted to try something different.  To my defense, the Japan was popping off and it really deserved a face lift.  Here is an original picture of the Western Electric Hawthorn tank that I picked up a couple of months ago.
Before 1

And here are some pictures post-mortem...

After 1

After 2

After 3

I know in the past that I've professed to strive to achieve off-the-factory-floor restoration, but I've seen a couple other fans done in off-white and I thought they looked sharp.  I thought this looked like a good candidate.  The off-white really displays the vent holes well and, with the brass, gives a certain air of elegance to the fan.

Someday we'll see a tank in it's natural colors. CAMO!
Right?
It's a natural!
Fact is, a tank looks good in any color.
Cheers,
Bill

Nice fan Darrell, tanks are perfect candidates for customization. Plenty of them out there.

Jeez,

By the title I thought you let the smoke out and/or stuck some light bulbs for blades ...

Lovely fan, BTW.

The phrase Murdered is now used to describe a well done or over the top paint / restoration. Mostly in the car world. I for one don't care for the phrase......But, seems many people use it.

Hey All,

Thanks for the compliments!

I really have no guilt or apologies. The title was just play. I think it looks really cool, and if I were truly ashamed I certainly wouldn’t be phishing for accolades by posting images on the forum. But, I also know that some have strong feelings about customizations and I’ve sort of made claims in the past that I avoid them. I guess that’s my only compunction.
