As some of you know, plans for Asheville 2018 are coming together nicely.  The event will be held August 1st-4th 2018 at the DoubleTree by HIilton Asheville - Biltmore located at 115 Hendersonville Rd. Asheville, NC 28803.  Their phone number for reservations is 828.274.1800, when making reservations please reference "Antique Fan Collectors National Meet".  The great news for those wanting to take advantage of this wonderful location, the hotel will allow you to extend your reservation for days prior and days post event for the same rate.  The AFCA rate is $120/night plus taxes.  That rate is about $20 more then we have seen in past years but $100/night cheaper then their normal rate for that time of year.

I'm going to encourage all who are planning on attending, MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY!!!  We will max our room block.  Asheville is a booming tourist town and The DoubleTree is in the heart of the Biltmore village.  The hotel has offered to allow extension of our room block numbers but after we max our guarantee it is on an "As Available" bases.  When it gets closer to time and there are no rooms available, there will not be anything I can do and you will need to look for another hotel.  Rates for hotels in Asheville are not cheap and there are not suburbs to look for cheaper lodging.  Not trying to scare you just trying to encourage early booking.

This is going to be a very exciting Fan Fair and hard to believe its only 11 months from happening.  More details will come withing the coming months but it is sure to be a Fan Fair you will not want to miss.  And if you have been putting off attending and this would be your first, I personally invite you to join us in Asheville NC on August 1st-4th 2018.

Chad, made my revs this morning and confirmed 8-1 thru 8-4. They nailed me with a $200 ADDITIONAL CHARGE for the Wed. 8-1 rev. Seems a bit outlandish, but confirmed on the 2nd,3rd & 4th at your quoted rate. I could buy a top of the line GE fan with 200 extra bucks :violin:........!

I just spoke to Chris at the hotel and he said that you were at the reduced rate for all four nights. He said he's not sure why anyone told you that, but if you want to call and confirm yourself, it should be fine.

We just got back from our vacation in Asheville, NC. Months ago, my wife decided it would be fun to hike the trails around the area and see the sights, so she made reservations at a hotel close to the Biltmore estate. By coincident, it just happened to be right across the street from the Doubletree, site of next years Fan Fair. All I can say is it will be a perfect venue. Plenty to do and see all around the area. For those not into four days of fan saturation, there is plenty of shopping, restaurants, micro breweries, touring the Biltmore, hiking, and submersing ones's self into Mother Nature, all within minutes of the hotel.
I can only recommend that you make your reservations early, while there are still rooms available at the doubletree. For all you procrastinators, while there are at least eight other hotels in viewing distance of the Doubletree, August is peak vacation time in the Blue ridge mountains. I doubt you will get a room rate comparable without having to drive a distance to our hotel....

If I am able to go, I'll likely end up staying with the family about an hour away. Save the money for fans I guess.

I will be more than happy to take anyone who wants to go. I can accommodate 5 in the Rav4. If there is more interest I think we can figure something out. I plan on going Thursday about 1pm, they open at 2pm. It's $15 a person to get in and play all you want for free. http://ashevillepinball.com/

You think we could get a van from the hotel? If there is enough interest?

Yes you can but, I have a friend who is an uber driver in Ashveille and have asked him about hiring him full time for a few days while we are there.  Free rides for all.

Great, I am willing to drive, but some could do the Uber. Looks like it's only a 10 to 15 minute drive.

Just got back from Geoff's great Pig Pickin workshop and had a great time working, eating and drinking with the guys!  Many thanks to Geoff and everyone who helped.
