it should take oil, preferrably of the non-detergent type like 3-in-1 in the blue can or Zoom! Spout.

Are you sure? Do you have one and you added oil and it is running fine because I don't want to ruin the bearings.

These are most definitely grease fit ball bearing fans. You can add oil on some of them to "refresh" the grease. but not too much.

Ah, ok, I wasn't sure, I know that the smaller Emerson's use oil, but I didn't realize that the pedestal models used grease and ball-bearings.

frankly i would like to know this too as i run an early 50s version at church. By the way those blades will polish up like mirrors with Mothers Aluminum Mag Wheel Polish
