Looks pretty darn good. Where'd you find that plug?

Thanks Andrew!  I found both the plug and receptacle at Lowe's.  They were just matte black plastic, so I painted them to match the cord.

Here's a video of the fan in action:

Where did you find the round brown vacuum cleaner cord?

I haven't been able to find something that matched the original cord. I hate to loose the original connector and art deco plug but it seems like its a problem waiting to happen since the cord is cracked.

Ryan - It's quite powerful on both low and high speeds, although I have to say low is actually not too bad for a smaller room.  Using my variac I can even knock the speed down a little more, and it's actually quite pleasant both in terms of airflow and noise.

Andrew - I found that cord at Lowe's too.  It's actually just a plain old extension cord, I believe it was a 40 footer.  Not a 100% perfect solution, but it works.  My local hardware store used to carry some very nice black and brown rubber coated wires, but they no longer stock those.

Levi - I recorded that with my cell phone, which does 1080/30p recording.  So it's most likely a rolling shutter effect that's going on.
