i know this is not really what this website is about but i have a lakewood/kmart k223 box fan and durring shipping the grills got smashed to little bits, i got a refund and got to keep the fan and it works fine otherwise. is there a way that i can make/get a new grill. the original one does not have any marking or badge or anything.

Hi Maryann.  I don't think you can easily make a plastic grille, however there are other ways to make a useful grille.

I recently made a little box fan out of a 12 inch exhaust fan.  The cabinet was build from oak wood. For the grille, I used a frame of 1x½" wood with holes drilled to accept the wires of livestock paneling mesh. This worked pretty well for my box fan!  You could paint the wood white (or whatever color your fan is) for it.

Hope this helps!

Oh; and by the way, we welcome ALL folks here who are repairing fans. The older the better; however it is still OK to ask for mechanical / electrical repair guidance on newer ones.  :D

Forgot to add; the mesh came from Tractor Supply; which is a farm and garden store.
