So I'm picking up some good fan collector slang (like I did with my fountain pens, typewriters,  & Victrola collection), and in fixing stuff I got around to cleaning up my old Emerson fan and managed to knock out the stator & speed coil.

The trouble is, the headwire turned into powdery bits and I'm not sure how to actually hook it up. The three connections on the stator are there & I plan to splice into the tail ends of the old wires. On the base, I found 2 contacts corresponding to the power cord & a wire from the top of the coil...

Loaded question time. Which one goes where? The resto is almost done. Come January I'll really get it back together.

See the link below. Based on this link it can be used for a 19xxx series. I am sure someone else can confirm.

Wiring diagram for 19666
When I re wire I mark each wire at the stator and the speed coil with waxed cotton string- 1 string on one wire, 2 strings on another, ... Etc. Some use paint and use one dot, two dots, ....

Hope this helps

Greg

Thanks a lot. Better learn how to use an ohm meter as well as solder.

Today I polished the rotor. It's not done yet but there's a lot of shine under a thick varnishy layer of dried oil & tar. (not wire insulation or something good, just filth.)

The first fan I ‘restored’ I purchased in pieces. With the help of this forum, a wiring diagram I was able to put it back together without problem. Sounds like you are well on your way. If you put your location in there maybe other members nearby who may be able help if needed.
