Can someone please tell me the actual year this fan was made? I've been at this a relatively short time and continue to learn daily. I am confused by all of the patent dates. What's the trick to this? From what I've seen in the gallery the 1899 matches this short ID tag. It appears for the most part that pancakes have the brass tag wrapped around. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the cost to restore. It will require a cage and struts which is a little less than what I paid for the fan. :violin:Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim

That is a Form B which is a 1902 model and has 5 speeds.  Pancakes were made in a "stick" form with the brass band wrapped around the motor and a "trunnion" form with the shorter tag on top of the motor.
This page will give you some good pancake information-
