Hello everyone,

I'm working on a Westinghouse Vane Oscillator and I'm looking for a replacement cage for the one I currently have. At some point in time, the original owner of this fan must have really wanted a stationary fan, so in addition to the vane missing, the top and bottom supports for the vane were sawed off, sanded, soldered, and a section of the bottom cage ring was replaced with copper tubing. I can't believe the effort that went into removing the supports for the vane. Anyway, I'm hoping maybe someone has a nice original cage with the vane supports that I can purchase. I have added a picture of the cage I currently have. I already have a vane kit, so it can be missing parts as long as it has the supports on the top and bottom of the cage.

Paul Graves can likely fix up your existing cage for a lot less than a replacement. He did one of mine which was sawed off like yours. He has replacement bottom plates, etc.

Thank you so much, Lane. I'll contact him and see if he can repair my cage.

Give him a call, he might want your vane parts to make sure everything aligns properly.

I can second that- Paul is the vane guru. Not only did he have my parts, he was kind enough to talk me through making them all work. I can't recommend him enough.

Thanks again, Lane and Jamie, I really appreciate the replies. I guess this isn't really a WTB ad anymore since I contacted Paul earlier and I will be sending him both the cage and the vane kit for service. He gave me a good price and it looks like he does amazing work, so I feel like it couldn't be in better hands. I'll post some pictures for you guys after I get it back.

Hey Joe, try to attend our Philadelphia regional meet in September. It's in Downingtown on Sept 15. There's a flier in our events calendar. There are also 2 other meets in the Northeast in May and June. Their fliers are also on the calendar. They are the places to buy and see great fans and meet some nice folks. Sorry if I already told you about this.

Hey Lane, I'm really glad you told me about the meet, this is actually the first time I'm hearing of it. I've never really attended a meet because my interest in antiques kept switching around. I remember I briefly visited the Coopersburg meet last year and it was really neat seeing all of the fans and people there. Now that I'm getting more interested in fans, I'll try to see if I can make it, it looks like it will be a lot of fun.
