I am looking for a gearbox, or really just the worm "driven" gear, for an Emerson 79648-AP-G.  I think the boxes were relatively common on several fans in this age and group size.

Also, still looking for a wick screw for the same fan.

Thanks

May be able to help you out.  Post a pic of the items you need so that both of us are on the same page.

I have a 79648 parts fan that may have what you need if Tom doesn't. What is a wick screw?

I don't know if Robb has gotten his gear yet, but if he has, I also need the same gear for the same fan. It's the gear that rides against the worm gear inside the oscillator. Mine is worn and missing teeth, but hopefully the worm gear is still OK. Will buy entire oscillator if I needed and if the price is good. Thanks.

Can you guys post pics of the gearbox and gear?  I’ve got a box of 5-6 Emmy gearboxes

You can see the worn out spots on the gear in the bottom pic.  I don't know what caused it to eat the gear like that.  It worked perfectly for over 2 hours, then stopped oscillating and I found the carnage when I opened the gearbox.  The gear looked good when I put it back together the first time.

Sometimes too many washers on either side of that gear can cause it to bind. Surprised there was enough torque to cause that amount of damage!  Wow. At any rate I think I have what you need. I’ll check. Any chance you’d be in AR THIS WEEKEND?

No sir, I won't be in AR this weekend.  I don't get out much, because my wife works weekends and we have 2 kids.  I live near Conroe.  There's a small washer that sits on the side of the smaller gear, but the side by the big gear that got chewed up didn't have a washer.  Maybe that's the problem.  I tried to make sure the worm gear was meshing up properly, but it's kind of hard to tell when it's all together.
