Any good tips on how to remove this back cover to change the wire?
I know it's only attached by the two screws, because it's brother (it's a twin window fan) came off really easily.
I don't want to continue to pry it w/ a screwdriver like in the 2nd picture because it will ruin the rubber gromits and bend the inner ring of the back cage.
Would a break puller do the trick perhaps?

Eric,  Try going at it from the blade side of the motor and tap with a screwdriver tip rather than prying.  It should come off.  Probably just rust in between the pieces.  Maybe dribble a LITTLE BIT of penetrating oil in the joint.  Also might try heating the rear motor bell to gain some tolerance in there.

I use a rubber mallet to tap the shaft until it opens at the seam of the motor.
