hello all, yep orange lettering I’m the the new guy. So I have an Emerson 71666 that I picked up with all the wiring chopped but the fan has never been taken apart. I am in the process of doing a full resto on it and would like if some one would explain how/why each wire on the fan winding are what they are. I love the help I have seen where people post their readings and you tell them what they are but I really want to know how you came to that conclusion. So I did letters ab =23 ac=60 and bc= 37 I’m guessing b is common since it is in the two lowest reading? How does this work and why? Thank you

Well worded question Ryan. Maybe if I had worded my question that way when I was orange I wouldn’t have had to do all the research and learning on my own to arrive at being able to provide you with the simple picture below:hammer:

You can take it from there and google split phase motor. Good luck

Thank you very much sir. I love answers but I love to know how it works and why way more. It’s pretty much the same as vintage refrigerators. So mostly the key is to find common then the other two can be either or? It doesn’t matter which goes to which?

Tom: Those are excellent and clear instructions. I just did a screenshot and printed them. Thank you very much.
