FWIW....to collect the complete set of WE/Diehl 6" fans spanning 1916-20 you would have to have 6 examples.

#1. The 1916 model(WE badge only) solid body with dull black finish and brass blade.

#2. The 1917 model(WE badge only) with pivot option for desk or bracket with bronze finish.

#3. The 1918-20 model(WE badge) with pivot option with green finish offered exclusively for alternating current.

#4 The 1918-20 model(Diehl badge) with pivot option with green finish offered exclusively for alternating current.

#5 The 1918-20 model(WE badged) with pivot option with green finish offered exclusively for direct current.

#6 The 1918-20 model(Diehl badged) with pivot option with green finish offered exclusively for direct current.

Good luck!  :D

When you say bronze finish are you talking about the blade? I cleanded up on my WE 6" and it appears it was gloss BLK- solid body- but the blade isnt brass

1916 models are advertised SOLID BODY(no pivot feature).  The 1917 models are advertised WITH PIVOT FEATURE FOR DESK OR BRACKET OPERATION.

1916 models are advertised dull black finish with brass blade. The 1917 models were advertised now with Statuary Bronze finish.  Might Diehl have used a steel blade in place of brass?  Why not?  :D

IT IS STATED IN ELECTRICAL TRADE THE REASON FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF THESE LITTLE UNIVERSAL MOTOR FANS IS...…...PORTABLE FOR HOTELS AND OTHER PLACES IN WHICH THIS CONVENIENCE IS NOT PROVIDED. ……...GILBERT.....RACINE.....ect.
