Hi all hope all is going well. I am working on a Emerson 73648 with a brass blade. I got it wired upon and running but the problem i'm having is when i put the blade on it screws in and locks the rotor. i have never encountered this problem and was hoping someone might know whats going on.

Thanks Marce

Marce, it sound like a problem I had on an Emerson oscillator.  When you put the blade back on and screwed it on, the oscillator rod that is supposed to fit into a squarish hole inside the blade hub is not settling down into the hole but catching on the outer corners.  One sure way to fix it is to remove the gearbox and, when screwing the blade on, turn the shaft slightly to get it to seat INTO the squarish hole in the hub.  Hopefully this is the problem and you'll be on your way soon.

Well i have an update on that problem I am having I did what you suggested and it didn't work.but then i discovered that the blade tightened down and locked on the nut that holds the rotor on.
I don't know why it does that but i tried a different blade and it works fine. this is a picture of the blade that was on the fan the one that tightens up and locks the rotor.

And this is an insert in that screws into the blade. I have never seen this before.

The insert may be what was installed in hubs when the blade was to be used on an oscillating model and where the oscillator shaft would key into the insert.

I'm pretty sure your right about the insert Steve but i still can't figure out why that blade locks the rotor up.i put a blade on it from another fan and it works fine with it but i need the brass one to work:hammer:

make sure the insert is installed correctly-- if you reverse it it will cause you issue ,making the shaft too long .match you inside to the steel blade & you'll be good
