I am in need of a motor for this beautiful Ilg mini-vent fan... It requires a special motor to fit in this housing... 9 watt fan, 1500 rpm's...   I need someone who has replaced this motor and what they used... It requires a special motor for this one not just a common motor...

The motor has a 1/4 inch shaft with a flat on it for the set screw  to seat... I need this motor new or used...

That would appear to be based on the GE unit-bearing motors we see in the refrigeration condenser fans of the same era.

I take it that the winding is bad?

Thnx David!

Yes after a little modification it would work... I would need to grind off the cast mounting pads to use it... I bought a motor with those mounting pads and I am grinding them off... I am NOT modifying the Ilg in any way, just the motor... And the shaft on these are threaded 1/4-20... The old motor had a shaft with a flat to put the blades set screw into... I have a lathe guy modifying that to! When this is done it will look exactly as original...

That's great! Glad you were able to get a motor which will do the job nicely.

Yep, nothing a little grinder work won't fix!

Or, you could chuck the entire motor in a lathe and turn away those.

Hi All!

Ok! A little grinder work and removed the cast mounting pads top and bottom... Then added a sleeve to the shaft to mount the blade... An excellent repair and save of an Ilg 103... clean and repaint and this will be ready for another 75 year stint!!

That turned out nicely! Sounds like new.

I know your box fan built from that will be a great daily runner for sure!
