I have in recent past made a number of Shedd related posts.  The reason being is to try and pin down Shedd fan motor manufacture and types of fan motors to a science. Despite much research the truth be known I have failed to do so.  I have gained a much better understanding of Shedd's fan motors and dating, but there are still a number of grey areas that leave doubt.  The good news is I know where those grey areas are and the fan motors involved.

It was my belief the firm Sittmann & Pitt whom was Weyant's(Shedd's Comfort oscillator engineer) employer where the oscillating fan motor was first conceived that possibly shut Shedd wind driven fan motor manufacture down through litigation around 05-06.  Did Shedd stop vane oscillator manufacture 06-08? The 1908 McGraw Electrical Directory has Shedd listed marketing alternating and direct current desk fans. The unfortunate aspect is there are no specifics on Shedd's fans in 08. In 1905 Shedd placed a stationary ball pivot brushed fan motor on the market for direct and alternating current. The alternating current model was marketed in 12" only. There are no McGraw electrical directories or electrical trade books for 06-07 at this time for Shedd fan motor specifics. What were these the specific Shedd fan motors listed in the 1908 McGraw directory?? Do you see what I mean, a grey area.

Hopefully in time more electrical trade books will surface to remove the grey areas.
