|Bought this 22272-002 hunter at a garage sale back in 1988 and used in my home from 96
. It came from the factory painted chestnut brown but I always knew the faceplate was brass because I could see it behind some the paint scratches. I finally got around to stripping it off and also stripped the cast iron body which I found to be nickel plated.
Note the original cast iron body with the bottom face plate. Notice the face plate is showing brass at places the paint was scuffed off. The body definately came from the factory a chestnut brown due to the metal tag attached on top of the paint. Who would have known that below it was nickel plated.
Im guessing that the factory had a bunch of them nickel plated and painted it the chestnut brown to fill an order.
Does anyone have any information on Manufacture date or why this one would be plated and painted over?
