I just bought this little GE fan at a flea market for a good deal. The motor runs strong and the ocellator works well. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the fan's history. The year would be great to know to. Cat. number is F11S107. Thanks!

Its a GE Standard from the late 1950s, I've owned about 6 of those, they're great little runners when working properly, otherwise they're a pain to work on. Yours is a 10" model, which is a single speed, the 12" was a 2 speeder. Yours looks like its missing the oscillator knob on the top, which is very common on these as they were made with a very brittle plastic that broke over the years.

Frost Gray came out in 1952 ish and lasted until 1959. These on the boxes are called quiet fans, they are nicknamed C-Strap by some due to the motor to base mount. A Pain to oil and work on, but i like them

Yes on the box they were referred to as quiet fans but technically they are the "standard" model since the original Quiet Blade fan was actually discontinued in the early 1940s.

That is the very model of fan that my parents bribed me with , to dive off of the deep end of the swimming pool  :shock:at Conway Country Club during summer swimming lessons when I was 6 years old. I took the bribe.  :D
